Adventures on the Lleyn Peninsula

Aberdesach evening light

The Christmas break was wonderful this year. Our new home provided plenty of space for friends, family and holiday let guests to enjoy some time on the Lleyn Peninsula.

Holiday let guests came from far and wide, mainly for two night breaks. Snowdon was climbed, some family adventures and sea fishing was enjoyed. A team came for a swim in the sea on New Years day and a photographic group will be here shortly. Lots of variety and lots of fun.

With my own family I have been out enjoying some of the local walking, surfing and bird watching. The Lleyn, or Llyn Peninsula has a wealth of easy access beaches that provide stunning surfing. Hells Mouth or Porth Neigwl is just amazing. Beautiful waves, clean water with gorgeous colours. No wonder is it famous around the world. Y Foryd is a very impressive haven for water birds. It’s coastal, so is affected by the tide, but much of it is quiet, so you can pick a spot to sit and watch. There is loads going on at this time of year. Our garden and local field birds are keeping busy with feeding and checking out nest site. It won’t be long before they are in full courtship plumage and ready to bring a new family in to the world.
